Gale Quentin Williams
Gale Quentin Williams, age 85, of Evansville, Ind., passed away
at 11:14 a.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at St. Mary's Medical Center.
Gale was born December 25, 1922, in Marlow, Ill., to Gale and Lillie (Moore) Williams.
He was of the Methodist faith. Gale was a veteran of the United States Army,
serving during WWII, under the Persian Gulf command, stationed in Iran. He retired
from Whirlpool after 25 years in production. Gale was a lifetime member of Charles
Denby VFW Post No. 2953 and of American Legion Kapperman Post No. 44 in Newburgh.
He was also a member of AMVETS and a previous longtime member of the Eagles. Gale
enjoyed playing golf, reading books about history and geography and watching the
hummingbirds in his backyard. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and
great-grandfather.
He is survived by one daughter, Elaine Harrison Mattingly and husband, Mike, of
Evansville; two sons, Allen Williams and Tammy of Evansville and Bruce Teel of
Tunkhannock, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Ned, Amy and Chap Teel, Joshua and Meredith Teel,
Kyle Williams and Daniel Harrison III; four great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Alexandria Danielle,
Cole and Rose; and a sister, Shirley and Mike Kohut of Flora, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Margaret J. Williams, in 1997,
and a son, Jimmy E. Teel, in 1995.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 16, 2008, at Boone
Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville, with Father Joseph Ziliak officiating.
Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery, where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans
Club will perform full military rites.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today, August 15, 2008 at Boone Funeral Home,
East Chapel and again from 10 a.m. to service time at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 16, 2008.
