James Williams of Bluford Dies at Age 89 Years

James Williams, 89, of Bluford, died at 3:40 a.m. today at the Good 
Samaritan Hospital.

Mr. Williams was a retired farmer.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Pulley Funeral 
Chapel with the Rev. Bird Green officiating.  Burial will be in East 
Hickory Hill cemetery.

The body will lie in state at the Pulley Funeral Home, where  friends 
may call after 2:00 p.m. Sunday.

Mr. Williams was born April 10, 1872, in Bluford, the son of James and 
Sarah (Moore) Williams.

He was married to Bertha Chesier, who preceded him in death in 1956.

Other survivors include a son, Harold E. Williams of Bismarck, N.D.; 
three daughters, Mrs. Grace Brookman of Rockford, Ill., Ruth Reece and 
Myrtle Highsmith, both of Mt. Vernon; one brother, Runyon Williams of 
Bluford; one sister, Mrs. Lulu Jones of Mt. Vernon; 14 grandchildren 
and 23 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two daughters, 
two sons, two brothers and two sisters.
