S. B. Williams Dies at Age 92
Samuel B. Williams died at 4:30 p.m. yesterday at the home
of his son, J. C. Williams, one day before his 92nd
birthday. He had been in ill health for the past four months.
A farmer, he had made his home with his son for 28 years.
Mr. Williams was born December 13, 1853 in Mt. Vernon Twp.,
the son of John C. and Prudence J. (Atchison) Williams.
He was born, reared and died in the same community.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Vina Franks of West Frankfort;
two sons, J. C. Williams of Mt. Vernon and J. I. Williams of Opdyke;
two sisters, Mrs. Julia Highsmith and Mrs. Nancy Scott of Mt. Vernon.
He was preceded in death by one daughter and four sisters.
Mr. Williams also leaves 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren,
and one great-great-grandchild.
The body will lie in state at the Pulley Funeral Home after 6
p.m. today until Friday at 4 p.m. when it will be removed to his son’s
home on RFD 4. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
