The Ina, IL Observer - Thursday, July 11, 1957 Mr. and Mrs. C. A. LEATHERMAN of Woodland observed their 50th wedding anniversary July 1 with a dinner at Kentland, Ind. Guests included Dr. and Mrs. W. ROBERTS of Watseka, the latter a sister of Mr. LEATHERMAN; Mrs. Anna FETHERLIND and daughter Genevieve of Sheldon; Mrs. Lottie LEATHERMAN and daughter Edith of Earl Park, Ind., and Mrs. and Mrs. David RICE of Bourbannais. The couple were married June 27, 1907 at Bonnie. Mrs. LEATHERMAN was the former Gladys WILLS of Spring Garden. The ceremony was performed by Rev. H. R. WEST. After a honeymoon the couple moved to Chicago where the groom was employed in the office of Swift and Company. They returned to Iroquois County in 1908 where Mr. LEATHERMAN taught school for a time. Later they moved to Woodland where they have since resided. Mr. LEATHERMAN has been engaged in the real estate and insurance business there for almost 50 years. Mr. and Mrs. LEATHERMAN are members of the Methodist Church and he is a member of the IOOF lodge. Mr. LEATHERMAN holds many other positions of honor and trust in his come county. The Ina, IL Observer - Thursday, July 11, 1957 Mr. and Mrs. Paul MARTIN and children Bob and Linda, residing in California, are visiting Mrs. MARTIN's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert HEAD. Maurice SWEETEN of the US Navy, stationed at Pensacola, Fla., flew home last week to spend a couple of days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy SWEETEN. Mr. and Mrs. Merle JOHNSTON and family of Dorchester, Mass., and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn JOHNSTSON and family of Tulsa, Okla., left Sunday for their homes after a few days visit with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy JOHNSTON. Mr. and Mrs. Allen EISENHART and family of Belleville have been visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Richard CONNER the past few days. Mrs. Lettie JONES of Claremore, Oklahoma, arrived here Tuesday for a few weeks visit with relatives. She is a sister of Mrs. Fred MARTIN, Mrs. Alfred FARMER and Lee GLAZEBROOK. Mrs. Orvel SWEETIN had three teeth pulled last week and has a forlorn look on her face since. Howard CONNER and stepson Jim SCOTT returned home Sunday from a fishing trip to a lake in Wisconsin and brought back lots of evedence that they had been fishing. Racheal SWEETIN of Whittington has been admittted to the Franklin Hospital in Benton. Clif ROLAND, employed at Chicago, is at his home here this week. He is unable to work at present due to an injury. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy HAWKINS made a weekend trip to Grundy, Va., accompanying Mrs. Marvin Lee SETTLE who was joining her husband there. |
