James Richard (Judd) Adams and Lucy Jane Arnold were the parents of nine children: Troy Adams, Bonnie, Illinois: Clyde Adams of Bonnie, deceased: Walter Adams, Bonnie; Evan Adams, Bonnie; Elic P. Adams, Bonnie; and an infant boy, deceased; Oma Eubanks, DuQuoin, Illinois; Mertie Ham, Opdyke; and one girl deceased at infancy. Elic P. Adams was born May 26, 1908, in Spring Garden Township, on what is now known as "Adams Road", in Jefferson County, Illinois. He attended Hungry Hill School a small distance from his home. He and his brothers and his Dad were farmers and did custom threshing for other farmers, in Jefferson and Franklin Counties. There are many good times and memories connected with their threshing. His Dad, and he and his brothers were also engaged in owning and operating an International dealership. This dealership originally started on Adams Road, at their home place, where Evan Adams now resides and also was located in Mt. Vernon, just north of the Security Bank in Mt. Vernon. Along with their dealership on South 10th, they also operated a service station. They also continued to farm as well as operate a business. Along with farming he and his family were peach growers. Each August, friends and neighbors from the surrounding area were employed to help in the harvest of approximately 100 acres of peaches. In 1928, Elic P. Adams, met Neva Rightnowar on a blind date through Lucille Peterson Rightnowar Miley. Their romance blossomed and they were married on December 17, 1931. After their marriage, they lived in Mt. Vernon for a few weeks and then moved to their present address in Bonnie. At the present time Elic P. Adams is a retired farmer and coowner with his son, Bennie Adams, of the Adams Implement Co. Bethel Road, Mt. Vernon, Illinois. This last October 17. 1977, Elic P. and Neva Adams celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary. Elic and Neva are members of the Spring Garden Community Church, Bonnie, Illinois. They are the parents of two children, one boy, Bennie Lee Adams, of Bonnie, Illinois, who is married to Beverly J. Modglin and they have a son, Elic P. Adams II. They have a ,daughter, Betty Marie Eidson, married to Maurice Eidson, and have a daughter, Tranae Marie, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
