Nolan Alfred Adams was born in Jefferson County. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Callie Voris Hale. also born in Jefferson County. Nolan is the son of Evan Richard and Reba Mae Reece Adams. Voris is the daughter of Hershel and Mary Ophel Hodge Hale. Both parents reside near Bonnie. IL. There were five children born to Nolan and Voris: Terry Nolan, Trena Renee, Mikah Noell, Elayne Robin, and Monte Kent. Nolan started out in 1950 working for his uncle Elic Proctor Adams. on his farm and raising hogs. He also worked at the car shops for a short while. They resided just west of his father's farm for about four years. Then they purchased the old Mary Jones farm consisting of 130 acres. In December of 1960 they purchased a farm owned by Bud Schultes, in Moores Prairie Twp. It contained 413 acres with an 2-room house partially finished. A couple of years later they bought 75 acres from Frank Oliger, then in 1972 they bought 240 acres across the road from the 413 acres. Nolan also has a small herd of Hereford cattle, raises a few hogs and has a few horses on the place. Voris served as a 4-H leader for the Belle Rive Prairie Wranglers 4-H Club for six years. She also served on the county 4-H committee for two years. She worked four years prior to her marriage for the Welborn & Carr Insurance Agency. She was an Avon representative for two years in Mt. Vernon in 19651966. From 1968-1971 she was secretary of the Belle Rive Consolidated Grade school. At present her hobby is refinishing antique furniture and collecting antiques for their home. Nolan was elected road commissioner for Moores Prairie Twp. in 1968. He has served two four-year terms and is presently serving an extended two-year term. Nolan and Voris are both Free Will Baptists. Terry married Deborah Kay Nociar. They reside on the Frank Oliger home place. He works with his dad farming approximately 1.000 acres. He also has a small hog business of his own and helps with the road work. Terry and Debbie have a daughter. Erin Rachelle. Trena married Dennis Robin Owen from Winter Haven, FL. Dennis is a minister. They reside and pastor a home mission church in Sunny Hills. Florida. Their daughter, Miranda Elizabeth. The other three. Mikah, Elayna and Monte reside with parents as of this writing. Terry, Trena. Mikah and Elayne all received Key Club awards in 4-H.
