Thomas H. SIMONDS, farmer, P.O. Mount Vernon, was born in Rutherford County, Tenn., February 25, 1833, and is a son of Richard SIMONDS (deceased), a native of Virginia.

Our subject attended the subscription schools in the old log schoolhouse, sat on a split pole seat, and wrote on a slab.

He came to this county iu March, 1852, where he has since resided.

On the 1st of February, 1854, he married Sarah VANCE, by whom he has had eight children, seven living-

4. Mary E.
5. Susan E.
6. Robert and
7. Rebecca.

Mr. SIMONDS owns eighty acres of land, and is engaged in general farming on Section 23.
