December 1898
The following named have been selected as the grand jury for the December term of the Circuit Court: Geo. E. Porter, James Sprouse, Grand Prairie; Andy Hogshead, Frank Gaskins, Casner; R.F. Whellis, S.A. Johnson, Blissville; A. Cook, Samuel Quinn, Bald Hill; Noah Harlow, I.J. Bruce, Rome; W. Scott Hill, Shiloh; L.C. Manen, McClellan; A.J. McConnaughay, Elk Prairie; A.N. Williams, Field; James O. Harlow, Joseph Merritt, Mt. Vernon; C.N. Baugh, Dodds; Walter Fitzgerrell, Spring Garden; W.E. Donaho, Farrington; Joseph Ethington, Webber; T.L. Boswell, Pendleton; Jno. Compton, Benj. Irvin, Moore's Prairie. The docket for the December term of the Circuit Court promises to be
remarkably light. On the Criminal docket are to be found but fifty cases,
and unless the grand jury returns a large number of indictments, criminal
matters will not occupy much time of the court. The Taylor case is
set for trial Dec. 27, before Judge Newlin, and the Jesse Dees will case
is also expected to come up for hearing at the coming term of court, and
these two cases are perhaps the most important on the docket. It
is thought that Judge Pierce will hold the December term of court.
