Vernon. Mr. Pierce worked in the Mt. Vernon car shops, then retired from farming. He was born Dec. 15, 1904, in Bonnie, a son of William Franklin and Cora (Knowles) Pierce. His wife, Janice (Brumfield) Pierce, survives. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bethel Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon, with the Rev. Dr. Jimmie Fitzjerrells officiating. Those attending the service are asked to go directly to the cemetery. There will be no visitation. Johnston Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon, is in charge of the arrangements. In addition to his wife, Mr. Pierce is survived by two sons, Bill Pierce and wife JoAnn of Bonnie and Donald Pierce and wife Brenda of Mt. Vernon; a daughter, Darleen Allen and husband Lowell of Bonnie; three stepsons, Kenneth Brumfield and wife Marsha of Belle Rive, Kevin Brumfield of Vernon and Kelly Joe Brumfield of Bonnie; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and two nieces. Mr. Pierce was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Dora Mae (Upton) Pierce; three sons, Larry Dean, John Robert and Harry Lynn; one brother; and three sisters. Jerry R. Pierce was born 1871, and died 1928. He married Letha E. Sullivan July 25, 1900 in Jefferson County, Illinois, daughter of Roland Sullivan and Lucinda Griffin. She was born 1885, and died 1933. Vernon died 5:15 p.m. Dec. 14, 2003, at the home of her daughter in Mt. Zion. She was a homemaker. Mrs. PIERCE was born March 25, 1910, in Jefferson County to William Albert and Josephine (DALE) HUGHEY. She married Herbert PIERCE June 20, 1928, in Ewing; he died Jan. 1, 1976. Funeral services were held 10 a.m. today at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. The Rev. Michael KNIGHT officiated. Burial followed at Kirk Cemetery in Ina. Mrs. PIERCE is survived by a son, Jerry D. Mrs. Lottie KINMAN died at 1:00 p.m. Monday at her home on the Benton Road. She was 87 years, 8 months and 5 days old. Vernon, IL Register-News Joseph Andy KINMAN, 77, was fatally injured at 4:45 p.m. Saturday, when he was struck by a car while walking across State Highway 37, in front of his home about one mile south of Mt. Vernon. Driver of the car in the fatal accident was Bee M. HALE, 28, of Bonnie. State Patrolman Lee R. LYONS, who investigated the accident, said that Mr. KINMAN walked in front of the car. He was apparently going to a mail box on the other side of the highway. Coroner Ben ROEDER was conducting an inquest in the case at the court house at 2:00 p.m. this afternoon. Funeral services for Mr. KINMAN will be held Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at Myers Chapel and burial will be in Bethel Memorial Cemetery. The body will remain at Myers Chapel, where friends may call at any time until the funeral hour. Mr. KINMAN was a farmer. He was born October 23, 1876 in Missouri but spent most of his lifetime as a resident of Jefferson County. He was married to Charlottie PIERCE, who survives. Mr. KINMAN was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church. Besides his wife, he is survivied by two sons, Nelson of Mt. Vernon and Oren of St. Louis, Mo.; four brothers, John of Bonnie, Lee of Sioux City, Iowa, Charley of South Dakota and Will of Bloomington; a half-brother Merle RYAN of Atlanta, Ill.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Kirk: Burial: Bethel Cemetery, Jefferson County, IL Mrs. Pearl Ann KIRK of the Benton Road, wife of Claude KIRK, died 9:45 this morning at Good Samaritan Hospital, where she had been a patient for the past four days. She was 55 years, three months, and 15 days of age. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Myers Chapel. The Rev. T. H. DORRIS will officiate and burial will be in Bethel Memorial Cemetery. The body will remain at Myers Chapel, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Thursday. Mrs. KIRK was born October 3, 1898 in Bonnie, the daughter of Joseph A. and Charlottie (PIERCE) KINMAN. On February 28, 1921 she was married, in Mt. Vernon, to Claude KIRK who survives. She was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church and the Eastern Star. Besides her husband, she is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. KINMAN of Mt. Vernon and two brothers, Nelson KINMAN of Mt. Vernon and Oren KINMAN of St. Louis. A brother Hearl, preceded her in death.

Claude E. Kirk: Claude Earl KIRK, 75, of 1502 N. 11th Street, was dead on arrival at Good Samaritan Hospital at 12:55 p.m. Thursday, following an apparent heart attack while fighting a grass fire at his home. He was a retired grocery store operator. Funeral Services will be held at the Hughey-Pulley Funeral Home with the Rev. Everett LEMAY officiating. Burial will be in Kirk Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Hughey-Pulley Funeral Home, where friends may call between the hours of 5:00 and 9:00 p.m. today. Mr. KIRK was born February 12, 1895, in Bonnie, the son of James M. and Fannie (BENNETT) KIRK. On December 1, 1965, in Nashville, Ill., he was married to Gussie WARREN who survives. He is also survived by one aunt, Mrs. LaVera HOLTSLAW of Salem. He was preceded in death by two sons. Mt. KIRK was a veteran of World War I. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on June 28, 1917 and received his discharge April 28, 1919. He was a member of the American Legion Post 141, VFW Post, Mt. Vernon Moore Lodge and Mt. Vernon Masonic 31 A.F. & A.M.
