I certify on honor that Zadock Casey volunteered in my company as a
private, and proceeded to Fort Wilbourn, where on June 17, 1832, he was promoted
to Paymaster of the Spy Battalion, and served as such to the end of the Indian war.
He is therefore entitled to travelling pay as a private to Wibourn from this place.

Information about the five (5) persons from Jefferson County, Illinois that was killed at the Battle of Kellogg's Grove.
The individuals killed on that day and buried the next morning by a burial detail consisting of .
PRVT. Abraham Lincoln were:
WILLIAM ALLEN killed June 25, 1832. In 1830 census of Jefferson Co., Il. age 20-30 and married with kids. Don't know if this is him or not
JAMES BLACK killed June 25, 1832. In 1830 census of Wayne Co., Il. age 40-50 (closer to 40 I would say) with a wife of 30-40 and with kids. Don't know if this is him or not.
JAMES B. BOND killed June 25, 1832. Recently arrived in Illinois to see his father and to make a home in Farrington Township, Jefferson Co., Il. He was born and raised in Bedford Co., Va. married to Mary Ann Holt and they had two kids. I have all of his records from the National Archives. This is my GGGgrandfather.
ABNER BRADFORD killed June 25, 1832. In 1820 Moore's Prairie, Jefferson Co., Il. census.
MARCUS RANDOLPH killed June 25, 1832 Nothing to be found at this time
All of these men are buried at the battle site (KELLOGG'S GROVE) at the BLACK HAWK MONUMENT near Kent, Illinois in the County of Stephenson. This site is a National Historical Registry.
