Larry Gale Adcock
Larry Gale Adcock, 63, McLeansboro, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2008, in the VA Hospital in Columbia, Mo. He was born in Mt. Vernon on June 12, 1945, a son of Joseph Nelson and Vada Elizabeth (Johnson) Adcock. He married Verla Mae Millenbine on April 2, 1967, at Casey Avenue Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon. Larry was a laborer, employed at General Tire for 25 years. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at New Life Assembly of God Church, McLeansboro, with Brother Andy May officiating. Burial will follow at Ten Mile Cemetery, McLeans-boro. Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 106, McLeansboro. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Larry is survived by his wife, Verla Mae (Millenbine) Adcock of McLeansboro; two sons, Larry Lee Adcock and wife Rhonda of Texico and Garry Ray Adcock and wife Cynthia Rae of Dale; two daughters, Carol Harrison of McLeansboro and Cheryl Ramey and husband Michael of Weston, W.Va.; nine grandchildren, Adam Adcock, Ashton Adcock, Allyson Adcock, Alex Adcock, Macie Adcock, Sarah Adcock, Luke Adcock, Hannah Harrison and Aaron Ramey; one sister, Sherry Beckham and husband Bill of Bonnie; and three brothers, twin brother Garry Lee and wife Mary Jo of Bluford, Ronnie Adcock and wife Anita of Bluford and Howard Adcock and wife Terri of Mt. Vernon. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Larry was a member of New Life Assembly of God Church in McLeansboro and loved to fish and play golf. He served in the U.S. Army as a Spc. 5 stationed in Korea. For those who wish, memorials may be made to New Life Assembly of God Church in McLeansboro. Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro is in charge of all arrangements.
