John H. Allen
John H. ALLEN, a retired mail carrier died at 3:00 p.m. yesterday at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. He was 71 years, 3 months and 11 days of age. Mr. Allen, an employee of the U.S. Postal service for 29 1/2 years, retired 11 years ago. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Ham's Grove church. The Rev. Rudolph SCHLAG and the Rev. Bird GREEN will officiate and burial will be in Ham's Grove cemetery. The body will be taken from Myers Chapel to the family home at 3 on Friday, where friends may call. Mr. Allen was born December 6, 1882 in Spring Garden township, Jefferson county, the son of Joseph and Frances(NORTHERN) Allen. On February 2, 1931 he was married to Myrtle A. PIGG BADGETT, who survives. Mr. Allen was a member of the Taylor Heights Baptist church and the Modern Woodmen of America. Besides his wife, he is survived by a sister, Miss Grace Allen of Ina: two step daughters, Mrs. Cecile NORDEN- GREEN of Fresno, Calif. and Mrs. Thelma BENSON, LaMesa, Calif.; and one step son Dewey C. Badgett of Mt. Vernon.
