Clarence Charles Allen
The funeral for Charles ALLEN, 82, Opdyke, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Byford CAMPBELL officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. today. Mr. Allen died at 6:55 a.m. Thursday in Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born February 11, 1904, in Jefferson County, the son of Richard and Anna (KELLER) ALLEN. He first married Lee Opal THOMASON, who preceded him in death October 13, 1968. He then married on February 15, 1975 to Lorene RECTOR, who survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Elaine ALLEN of Opdyke, Mrs. Norman (LaVerne) JUNKINS and Mrs. Bob (Norma) GARRISON, both of Mt. Vernon; one son, Marvin ALLEN of Sargent, Texas; one brother, Fred ALLEN of Bonnie; one stepson, Harry BUMPUS of Mt. Vernon; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Mike (Debbie) SEIBERT of Mt. Vernon; three grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mt. ALLEN was employed for several years with the Jefferson County Highway Department and for the last several years prior to his retirement he was employed by the Dodds Township Highway Department. He worked as a motor grader operator for both departments. He was a member of the Providence Free Will Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Bonnie Saddle Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, one son, Kenneth ALLEN, one grandson, Wayne ALLEN, six sisters and one brother.
