Mary C. Allen
Mrs. Mary C. Allen, member of a pioneer family, died at her home north of Mt. Vernon at 10:55 pm Thursday of pneumonia. She was 80 years of age. Funeral services, conducted by Reverend A. B. Clodfelder will be held at Hopewell church at two o'clock Sunday afternoon and burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery. The body will remain at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix until 10 am Saturday at which time it will be taken to the home which is situated in Mt. Vernon township near the north reservoir. Mrs. Allen, a lifelong respected resident of Jefferson county, died at the home where she was born on February 18, 1860, over 80 years ago. She was a member of the Hopewell Methodist Church. Mrs. Allen was the daughter of William Fletcher Johnson and Cresia Hobbs Johnson. In 1902 she was united in marriage with William S. Allen, who survives. Besides her husband, she is survived by a brother; William Buck Johnson, 92 years old of Eldorado.
