Gladys Ashley
Graveside rites were held Friday morning for Glayds Ashley member of a local pioneer family who died February 13 at Fir Lane Terrace Convalescent Center at the age of 88. Mrs. Ashley's family arrived in the Shelton area in 1864 but her birthplace was Ina Illinois. She was born July 9, 1896 and lived in Shelton most of her life. She was a member of the Ruby Rebekah Lodge 75 Degree of Honor and Daughters of the Pioneers of Mason County.Her survivors include two sons Robert W. Ashley of Shelton and G. W. Ashley of Mercer Island three grandchildren and two sisters, Helen Walkins of Shelton and Pearl Schmidt of Shelton. Pastor Roland Huber and members of the Ruby Rebekah Lodge conducted the graveside services at Shelton Memorial Park February 15 with arrangements under the direction of McComb and Batstone Funeral Home.
