Viva Fern Atkins
Mrs. Fern Atkins, 87, Waltonville, died at 7 p.m. Saturday. Mrs. Atkins was born Oct. 15, 1898, in Franklin County, the daughter of Ira and Zula (Clampet) Isom. On Oct. 2, 1915, in Benton, she married Thomas Atkins, who preceded her in death May 3. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Fry & Frick Funeral Home in Waltonville with the Rev. Floyd Hartley officiating. Burial will follow in the Knob Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. today. Survivors include two sons, Tommy Atkins and his wife, Rosemary, of Mt. Vernon, and Donald Atkins and his wife, Ruth Ann, of Benton; three daughters, Mrs. Ila Newell of Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Ray (Marie) Hall and Mrs. Leroy (June) Hamlin, both of Waltonville; three sisters, Mrs. Gusta Lackey of Sesser, Mrs. Eudene Dees of Waltonville, and Mrs. Louise Williams of Fulton, MO.; ten grandchildren; amd 15 great-grandchidren. Mrs. Atkins was a Protestant. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, Bob and Lowell, four brothers and one sister.
