Josephine I. Babics
Josephine I. Babics, 86, of Lexington, Ky., died 7:11 p.m. Jan. 10, 2005, at her home. She was owner of the Fabric Fair store in Lexington, Ky., for many years. Mrs. Babics was born April 8, 1918, in Ashley to Joe Riddle and Mary "Nettie" Smith. She was married to Michael Babics; he preceded her in death. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Mt. Zion Cemetery in rural Jefferson County near Ashley. The Rev. Daniel Jurek will officiate. Those attending this service are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Friday. No public visitation will be held. Mrs. Babics is survived by a half brother, Lucian H. Creel of Mt. Vernon; a sister-in-law, LaVerne Creel of Mt. Vernon; nephews Joe Wilson and wife Marilynn of Bridgeton, Mo., Scott Creel of Mt. Vernon and Doug Creel and wife Kelly of Mt. Vernon; nieces Merle Wilson of Bridgeton, Mo., and Erladean Brookes and husband Bob of Lake Wales, Fla.; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, William H. Creel; her husband; a brother, Leonard Riddle; sisters Carrie Wilson and Lucille Morgan; and a half brother, Newton Creel. Mrs. Babics loved to do crafts and was in a knitting club. She made many items for the Red Cross and for family members. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Hughey Funeral Home in Mt.
