Alma Maude Bauman, 83, Mt. Vernon, died 7:50 p.m. Aug. 25, 1995, at Crossroads Community Hospital. Mrs. Bauman was a pastry cook at several area restaurants. She was born June 13, 1912, in Mt. Vernon, a daughter of Earl and Maude Ballard. She first married Russell Puckett, and later married Richard Atchison. On July 2, 1970, in Vandalia, she married Belford I. Bauman, who survives. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Hughey Funeral Home with J. Howard Kraps officiating. Burial will be in Wolf Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hughey Funeral Home. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Bauman is survived by sons Gary Bauman and wife Pat of Janesville, Wis., Brice Atchison and Bradley Atchison, both of Mt. Vernon, and Arlen Puckett and wife Sharon of Lake Placid; brothers Gale Ballard and wife Freda and Melvin Ballard and wife Vivian, all of Mt. Vernon; 20 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bauman was a member of South Hickory Hill Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents.
