Donald F. Beard Sr., 64, of Dix died 11:37 p.m. Nov. 20, 2004, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

He was born April 30, 1940, in Ina, a son of John Foster and Edna (Clinton) Beard Sr.

Mr. Beard was of the Southern Baptist faith.

Before he became disabled, he was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Mr. Beard is survived by a daughter, Donna DeKalb and husband Faron of Centralia; a son, Donald F. "Donny" Beard Jr. and girlfriend Krystin Oliver of Benton; a sister, Lela Mae Bailey of Mt. Vernon; and a brother, Bobby Wayne Beard Sr. of Mt. Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Donella Beard; two brothers, John Beard Jr. and Ronald Beard; and two sisters, Laverne Alexander and Margie Dagg.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Johnston Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Burial will be in Kirk Cemetery in Ina.

Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Tuesday at Johnston Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

For those who wish, memorials in Mr. Beard's memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association and will be accepted at the funeral home at any time.
