Stella Fern Beck, 93, of Mt. Vernon, died at 11:15 p.m. Dec. 9, 1999, at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

Mrs. Beck was a homemaker. She was born Dec. 5, 1906, in Wayne County to Noah H. and Celia E. (McGill) Edmison.

She married George L. Beck March 1, 1924, in Mt.Vernon who preceeded her in death on Dec. 12, 1976.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Mr. Randy Sells officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Sunday morning at the funeral home.

Survivors include a son, George R. “Bob” Beck and wife Dorma of Mt. Vernon; a daughter, Wanda Lee Webb and husband Robert B. of Decatur; six grandchildren, George W. “Bill” Beck and wife Barbara, Jean E. Beck, Carroll Robert Webb and wife Ann, Rebecca Webb Johnston, Sarah Webb Konoplisky, and Amy Webb Frisby and husband Mike; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Beck was a longtime member of Central Christian Church. She was a family mother and enjoyed all of her family as much as her health would permit. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, William T. “Bill” Edmison and Harry Edmison; three sisters, Opal Rodotz, Minnie Wilson and Flossie Poston; and a granddaughter, Susan Webb Hartstrin.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Central Christian Church or the Oakwood Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home. Funeral services are under the direction of the Hughey Funeral Home, where you may call at 242-3348 for obituary information at any time.
