Howard N. Beckham Of Mt. Vernon Dies At Age 91

Howard N. Beckham, 91, of Mt. Vernon, died 8:15 a.m. Oct 24, 1997, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor.

Mr. Beckham was retired from the State of Illinois as a grounds foreman at the Tinley Park Hospital and was also a farmer.

Born Oct. 10, 1906, in Witt, in Montgomery County, he was a son of Odes Beckham and Nancy Elizabeth (Hays) Beckham.

He married Lela M. Donelson Berdon on Feb. 28, 1959, in Manteno and she survives.

Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Hughey Funeral Home with J. Howard Kraps officiating. Burial will be in South Hickory Hill Cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hughey Funeral Home.

Mr. Beckham is survived by his wife Lela M. Beckham of Mt. Vernon, stepson Doyle Berdon and wife Fay of Afton, Wyo., stepdaughters Doris Berden of Sun Rise Beach, Mo., and Rosalee Jameson and husband Wayne of Wilmington, eight stepgrandchildren, eight great-stepgrand- children and several cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harold Beckham; and stepdaughter Lora Lucille Berdon.
