Joe V. Beckman Of Route 1 Dies At Age 69 Years

Joe V. Beckman of RFD 1, Mt. Vernon, died at 1:15 a.m. today at Jefferson Memorial Hospital at the age of 69 years, seven months, and eight days.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at South Hickory Hill church, with Rev. Eugene Fox officiating. Burial will in the adjoining cemetery.

The body will lie in state at Myers Chapel where friends may call after 3:00 p.m. today.

Mr. Beckman was born June 15, 1892, on Jefferson county, the son of Frederick and Mary (Sigwerth) Beckman.

On July 22, 1911, in this city, he was married to Lucy Wells, who survives.

He is also survived by a son, Merritt Beckman of this city; four daughters, Goldene Coble, Vereta Beckman, Evalena Beckman and Ramona Beckman, all of this city; a nephew, Hubert Bitner, who made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Beckman; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A son, Calvin, preceded him in death.
