Joseph Russell Bellah, 81, of Mt. Vernon, died 8:17 a.m. Sunday, March 16, 2003, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

As per the request of Mr. Bellah, his body was donated to science and was cremated.

A memorial service was held Saturday, March 22, 2003, at the First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Vernon. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2003, at Westwood Cemetery in Shawneetown with the Rev. Cindy Bean officiating. Vickery Funeral Chapel of Shawneetown is in charge of the arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, Nannie A. Bellah and an aunt.

SHAWNEETOWN -- Joseph Russell Bellah, 81, of Mount Vernon formerly of Shawneetown, died Sunday, March 16, 2003, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon.

He had owned and operated Royal Wholesale and had served in the U.S. Coast Guard.

Surviving is his wife, Nannie A.

Graveside services 2 p.m. Saturday in Westwood Cemetery. Vickery Funeral Chapel is handling local arrangements.
