Edward R. (Rosier) Bennett
Edward Bennett - Mt. Vernon Edward R. (Rosier) Bennett, 87, 4204 Rose Lane, died 9:34 p.m. Sept. 18, 1989, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center. Mr. Bennett was a retired tool and die maker from the Ramco Tool and Die Company in Elgin. He was born Jan. 9, 1902, in Bluford, a son of Alexander Hamilton and Isabelle (Greene) Bennett. Sept. 3, 1921, in Mt. Vernon, he married A. Verne Jones, who survives. Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Jay Krumeich officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home, with Masonic servicese being conducted by the Jefferson Lodge No. 368 AF&AM of Opdyke. In addition to his wife, Mr. Bennett is survived by one son, John E. Bennett and wife Dorothy of Lawrenceville; one daughter, Mr. Gene (Lillian) Slycord of Elgin; five granchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Bennett was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, Jefferson Lodge No. 368 AF&AM of Opdyke, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 233 of Mt. Vernon, white Shrine of Jerusalem No. 66 and charter member of Sunshine Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and four brothers. Memorials may be made to the Epworth United Methodist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
