Jane Biggerstaff
Jane Biggerstaff, 87, of Mt. Vernon died 9 p.m. March 19, 2006, at White Oak Rehabilitation Care Center in Mt. Vernon. She worked for several years at the American Laundry in Mt. Vernon and as a janitor at Security Bank, also in Mt. Vernon. Mrs. Biggerstaff was born Oct. 23, 1918, in Hamilton County to Clarence E. and Eliza L. (Webb) Lance. She married Silas Biggerstaff Oct. 29, 1945, in Paducah, Ky.; he preceded her in death Nov. 1, 1991. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday March 22 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. The Revs. Danny Dunavan and Henrietta Dunavan will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Woodlawn. Mrs. Biggerstaff is survived by a son, Charles H. Biggerstaff of Mt. Vernon; two brothers, Howard Lance and wife Mary Jane of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Roscoe Lance and wife Norma of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers and a sister. Mrs. Biggerstaff was trained as a nurse's aide and was a member of Friendship of Faith Church in Mt. Vernon and a member of Senior Circle at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon. For those who wish, memorials may be given to Friendship of Faith Church soup kitchen and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt.
