James L. Black
James L. Black, a McClellan township farmer, died at 8:00 a.m. Sunday at his home on RFD 2, Waltonville. He was 75 years and 25 days of age. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Long Prairie Christian Church. The Rev. Given Blakeley will officiate and burial will be in Black cemetery. The body was removed from Myers Chapel to the family home, where friends may call at any time. Mr. Black was born December 28, 1879 in McClellan township, the son of John Robert and Martha Isabelle (McRight) Black. He was a lifetime resident of this county. On December 26, 1912 he was married at Chester, Ill., to Cecil Emily Newell, who survives. Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mae Ola Stewart of Mountain Grove, Mo.; one brother, Samuel Black of Waltonville; one sister, Mrs. Emily Brown of Waltonville; and two granddaughters. He was preceded in death by one son, James Douglas, who died in 1921. Note from submitter; Mr. Black passed away Jan. 23, 1955.
