Julia Ann Black
Mrs. Julia Ann Black of 1512 south 12 street died at 8:55 this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. A. Hudson, 1112 Perkins Avenue. She was 89 years and 28 days of age. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 pm at the Pulley Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Robert Freytag will officiate and burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Pulley Funeral Home, where friends may call after 2:00 Thursday. Mrs. Black was born July 5, 1871 in Jefferson County, the daughter of Hubbard and Rhoda (Sechrest) Haley. In 1917 she was married to Webb E. Black, who preceded her in death in 1954. She was a member of the Hopewell Methodist Church. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Andrew Griffith of Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Herman Rickfelder of Fillmore, Ill., and Mrs. A. A. Hudson of Mt. Vernon; 17 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Charley Haley of Mt. Vernon. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, one sister and one brother.
