Mr. W.C. Blair Dies Today At Her Home Here (1862-1938)

Lifelong, Loved Resident of This City Succombs at 10:25 a.m.; Her Loss Keenly Felt

Mrs. Laura Endora Blair, a lifetime resident of Mt. Vernon, died at 10:25 o'clock this morning at her home, 604 Main street.

Her age was 75 years, three months, and 27 days.

Mrs. Blair, a memeber of the Methodist church, was one of the most respected and loved woman in this city. She was a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary, a member of the Federated Women's Club and of the Home Missionary Society of the M.E. church.

Members of the Legion Auxiliary keenly feel the loss of Mrs. Blair, who for many years had been a leader in that organization. Indicative of the love they had for her is that she was fondly called "Mother" Blair by her many friends in that group.

She was a leader for many years in the Mt. Vernon Women's Club.

She had long been prominently associated with the social life of Mt. Vernon. She spent a lifetime of usefulness in which her part in the life of the city was great.

Mrs. Blair was united in marriage with William C. Blair December 24, 1883. He preceded her in death on March 7, 1927.

She was the daughter of Leander C. and Martha J. Johnson.

The body will remain at Myers Chapel until ten o'clock tomorrow morning, at which time it will be taken to the home where it will remain until the funeral hour.

Funeral arrangements had not been completed this afternoon.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ethel Stein of Herrin; Mrs. Mary Clark of Springfield and Mrs. Kate Kelley of Winchester, Ky. ; one son, Lee Blair, of Danville; four sisters, Mrs. Eva Ette and Ruth Menzer of Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Mary Bruns of Evansville, Ind., and Mrs. Martha Bateman of Springfield; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
