Mary Jane Bond
MRS. R. J. BOND, died at family home 12:50 p.m. June 13, 1929 "Was one of Mt. Vernons's Most Highly Respected Women and had large number of Devoted Friends " Mary Jane Bond, widow of Rufus Jerry Bond, died today at 12:20 p.m. at the family home, 215 South 10th Street, Mt. Vernon, Illinois. The sickness which terminated in her death was of but a few days duration. Mr. Bond died December 15, 1924. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made. She was for many years a member of the First Baptist Church and was a consecrated and faithful christian. She was for many years active in the work of the Women's Christian Temperance Union, and in the last few years the organization met at times with her in her home. Mrs. Bond was the victum of a fall about five years ago which resulted in a broken limb, and since that time she had been confined in her home. Notwithstanding this affliction she was cheerful and made the best of life, and its opportunities for good. She was obliged to use crutches after the fall. Her health had been considerably impaired as a result of injury. Her maiden name was England and she was united in marriage with Rufus J. Bond on December 21, 1875. She was 79 years old at the time of her death. Mrs. Bond is survived by the following children: Anna Bond, Neil K. Bond, Mrs. J. N. Marquis, Jr. and Grover Bond. Submitted by Abby Newell |
