Charles E. Boone, 76, of Mt. Vernon died 2:07 a.m. March 10, 2005, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis.

Mr. Boone was born Feb. 8, 1929, in Jefferson County to Raymond and Opal (Beal) Boone.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. The Rev. Les Sinks will officiate. Burial will follow in Old Orchard Cemetery in rural Jefferson County.

Friends may call from noon Saturday until the funeral hour at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

Mr. Boone is survived by a daughter, Catherine J. Hanna of Coshocton, Ohio; grandchildren Stephanie Davidson, Charon Hanna and Charlene Hanna; great-grandchildren Ian Timothy Davidson and Josie Hanna Davidson; brothers Dan Boone and wife Yvette of Morristown, Tenn., and Gale Boone and wife Gerri of Mt. Vernon; a sister, Elaine Newell and husband Dewey of Bradford; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Tim Boone; and a brother, Richard Boone.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
