Harris E. Borden died at 5:45 o'clock this morning at his home, 612 south 18th street, at the age of 82 years, one month and 18 days.

Mr. Borden, a veteran employee of the Illinois Power Co., served that company for 47 years.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30 pm at Hopewell Church, with the Rev. Joseph C. Harris officiating, and burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery. The body will remain at Myers Chapel, where friends may call after 10 am Saturday.

Mr. Borden was born December 27, 1869 in Crawford county, Ill., the son of Giles W. and Eliza Ellen (Crown) Borden.

He was married July 15, 1890 to Viola A. Chastain, who survives.

Mr. Borden, a resident of Mt. Vernon for 60 years, was a member of the Methodist church.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Arthur Griffey of Sedalia, Mo. and Mrs. Halley Nebughr of Cobden, Ill.; three sons, Olan, Berthold and Wilford of Mt. Vernon; two sisters, Mrs. Maud Patton of Decatur and Mrs. Mary Mullinax of Mt. Vernon; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
