Harry O. Borden
Harry Olan Borden, 68, of 309 S. 11th Street, died at 9:05 am at Good Samaritan Hospital. Mr. Borden was a retired baker. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix with the Rev. Ross Partridge officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the funeral home where friends may call after 5:00 pm today. Mr. Borden was born April 8, 1904 in Jefferson county, the son of Harris E. and Viola A. (Chastain) Borden. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Borden served as head baker on the Yarmouth in the Merchant Marines. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Borden of St. Louis; one daughter, Vivian Cornelia Brewer of LaDue, Mo., two brothers, Bert of Mt. Vernon and Wilford of St. Louis; one sister, Wilma Nebughr of Cobden, Ill., one granddaughter and two great-grand-children. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
