John Boudinot, died at the home of his son C. T. Boudinot, two miles south of Belle Rive on Sunday evening, March 6, 1898.

The deceased was born April 27, 1831 in the state of Ohio.

He was married to Miss Levina A Tinker on the 3rd of August 1856. Five children were born to them, three of whom are now living.

They emigrated to Illinois in 1857 and settled in the eastern part of Jefferson Co, at which place he continued to reside up to the date of his death.

His wife having died twenty-six years before.

Mr. Boudinot served as a soldier in the civil war for three years. He has been a member of the Masonic order in good and regular standing for forty years and in all that time he has ever been ready to put in practice the principles of free masonary in relieving distress wherever he has found it. Many a poor orphan had been helped by his bounty no less than by his kindly words of advice and encouragement. The sick, needy, the unfortunate, have always found in him a true friend and benefactor.

The funeral services at the M.E. church were conducted by Rev. B.R. Gilbert on Tuesday, March 8, at 2 p.m. after which interment at New Hope cemetery. The family and friends have the profound sympathy of all.
