Albert Doyle “Ab” Bowers, 77, Belle Rive, died at 6:58 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2007, at his residence. Mr. Bowers was a farmer.

He was born Aug. 1, 1929, in Mt. Vernon, the son of Howard and Minnie (Minor) Bowers.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Harre Funeral Home in Dahlgren with Brother Guy Leonard officiating. Burial will follow at Flint Cemetery in Belle Rive. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Dahlgren.

Ab is survived by his wife, Eunice Bowers of Belle Rive; a son, David Bowers and wife Candi of Belle Rive; three daughters, Karen Bailey and husband Pat of Dallas, Texas, Donna Karcher and husband Alfred of Dallas, Texas, and Rita Bruce and husband Brian of Troy; grandchildren Jason, Jared and Jennifer Bailey of Dallas, Texas, Christopher Bowers of Great Falls, Mont., Lauren Richardson of Belle Rive, Elisha and Matthew Karcher of Dallas, Texas, and Erik and Ryan Bruce of Troy; great-grandchildren Dylan, Riley and Aleana Bailey; two brothers, Robert Bowers and wife Shirley of Elgin and Donald Bowers and wife Janet of Marion; and one sister, Dorothy Bruce of Elgin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Kenneth, Bill, Downes and Vance; and one son, Roger Bowers.

Ab was a member of Southwest Christian Church in Mt. Vernon. He loved to spend time with family and was very proud of all his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed very much working on cars.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at Harre Funeral Home.
