Helen (Miller) Brenton
Helen Brenton, 85, of Bluford died 2:48 p.m. Dec. 22, 2004, at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. Mrs. Brenton was born Feb. 13, 1919, in Jasonville, Ind., to Alex and Dealie (Malone) Miller. She married Walter Matthews May 10, 1942; he preceded her in death May 19, 1973. She later married Paul Gene Brenton; he survives. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix. The Rev. Fred Estheimer will officiate. Burial will follow at Harmony Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix. Mrs. Brenton is survived by her husband, Paul Gene Brenton of Bluford; a son, Phil Matthews and wife Scherry of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; daughters Linda Sledge and husband Jim of Mt. Vernon and Terry Brothwell and husband David of Princeton; grandchildren Kori Matthews of Florida, Bridget Riston and Robbie Sledge of Mt. Vernon and Heather Brothwell of Princeton; great-grandchildren Morgan Blumeyer and Piper Riston of Mt. Vernon and Wyatt Sledge of McLeansboro. and sisters Barbara Wiley and husband Ted of Milwaukee, Wis., and Fernie Marlow of Jasonville, Ind. She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband. Mrs. Brenton loved her family, her home and her little dog, Petie.
