Thomas Edward Brown

Ends Life by Hanging in His Room

Thomas Edward Brown's lifeless body discovered by proprietor of Grand Hotel early Sunday. Act is attributed to despondency. When seen the previous day, Mr. Brown had stated he was very sick. Buried this afternoon.

He was generally known to his friends as Ed Brown.

He had been a night clerk at the hotel.

He left 2 or 3 letters to friends but ask that they not be given out for publication. He stated that his pocketbook was stolen at the farmers' picnic last Saturday and contained all the money that he had. He was in his 68th year.

Thomas E. Brown and "Katie" are buried at the West Salem Cemetery in Jefferson County, IL.)

T. E. Brown has returned from Paragould, Arkansas where his brother George Brown died. (George married Nancy Catherine Patterson August 11 or 12, 1877 in Jefferson County, IL.)

These are sons of James Edward Brown and Mary Vance.
