William J. Bryant
William J. Bryant, 80, of Dix died 6:50 a.m. Feb. 5, 2006, at White Oak Nursing Home in Mt. Vernon. He was a retired welder for Caterpillar in Peoria. Mr. Bryant was born March 28, 1925, in Bokoshe, Okla., to Thomas E. and Emma L.(Regan) Bryant. He married Dorothy L. (Hill) Bryant Nov. 26, 1946, in Morganfield, Ky.; she preceded him in death Nov. 25, 1991. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. The Revs. Jack Lucas and Tom Bryant will officiate. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix. Mr. Bryant is survived by daughters Katharine Elaine Moore and husband Kenneth of Jacksonville, Fla., and Sandra Joyce-Ann Hoffert and husband William of Fairfield, Calif.; six grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren; brothers Duane Bryant and wife Glenda of Mt. Vernon and Bob Bryant and wife Dolores of Woodland, Mich.; and sisters Jean Bryant and husband Orley of Norris City, Beverly Partride and husband Melvin of Mt. Vernon and Betty Hizer and husband Dan of Murrieta, Calif.; and a sister-in-law, Gerry Bryant of Dix. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a grandson, Bryan Hoffert; a brother, Phoy "Bud" Bryant; and a sister, Janice Miller. Mr. Bryant was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
