Josie (Howlett) Buchanan
Josie Buchanan, 85, Mt. Vernon, and a former Keenes resident, Keenes, died 8:35 a.m. Nov. 27, 1992, Good Samaritan Regional Health Center. Mrs. Buchanan was a housewife. She was born March 30, 1907 in Louisville, Ky., a daughter of Clarence and Martha (Dowdell) Howlett. She married Earnie Buchanan, who died Sept. 10, 1958. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Keenes Community Chapel with the Rev. Morris Abehar officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at Richardson Funeral Home in Wayne City. Mrs. Buchanan is survived by four sons, Aaron Buchanan and wife, Peggy of Charleston, Everette Buchanan and wife, Geraldine, of Toluca, Belyn Buchanan and wife Jane, of Louisville, and Verl Buchanan and wife Debbie, of Clear Lake, Iowa; three daughters, Mrs. Harvey (Betty) Lane of Opdyke, Mrs. Dwight (Laura) Withrow of Bluford and Mrs. John (Joanne) Trotter of Peoria; one sister, Elsie Smith of Louisville, Ky., 37 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Buchanan was a member of the Church of God of Bluford. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, one daughter, two sisters and three brothers.
