Richard A. Buescher, 91, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at his home. He was born Friday March 14, 1919, in Mt. Vernon, the son of Albert Edward and Florence (Baldwin) Buescher. He married Mary Fulcher in 1983 in Mt. Vernon, and she survives. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Bud Storey officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Hopewell Cemetery in Jefferson County. Mr. Buescher is survived by his wife; son, Mike Buescher and wife Vicki of Davenport, Iowa; five stepsons, William Earl Scott and wife Coleen of Sebree, Ky., Steven Eugene Scott and wife Tracy of Beulah, Ky., Darrell Wayne Scott of Sebree, Ky., Michael Joe Scott and wife Denise of Michigan and Lee Scott of Sebree Ky.; and four stepdaughters, Mary Louise Cunningham and husband David of Nortonville, Ky., Sandra Mae Walker and husband Bruce of Lakeland, Fla., Cindy Gale Melton and husband John of Slaughters, Ky., and Jana Marie Smalley of Mt. Vernon. 27 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren also survive.He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Nellie; a daughter, Kathleen, and a granddaughter, Becky. Mr. Buescher was a farmer and later worked as a union carpenter until retiring. He loved to fish and be outdoors, was an avid Bible reader and member of Zion United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon.
