Dorothy (Draper) Buford
MOUNT VERNON - Dorothy Draper Buford, 91, of Mount Vernon died Thursday (Aug. 27, 1996) at her residence. Her graveside service will be at noon Saturday at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens, the Rev. Alan Rhein officiating. Visitation will be from 10;30 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at Newell Funeral Home, Mount Vernon. Memorials may be made to J.L. Buford School or Hospice of Good Samaritan Hospital. Mrs. Buford was born April 20, 1907, in Wayne City, a daughter of Newton Wilson and Mary Paulina Carter Draper. She married J.L. Buford on Aug. 2, 1928, in Carbondale. He survives. She is also survived by two sons, Richard Buford, Gladwyne, Penn.; and J. Philip (Nona) Buford, DeLand, Fla.; one daughter, Barbara DeChamp, Church Hill, Md.; and one sister, Virginia Foster, Jackson, Miss. Other survivors include five grandchildren, Susan DeChamp and Joe (Chris) DeChamp, both of Annapolis, Md.; Becky (Mark) Bernhardy, Hinckley; Scott Buford, Atlanta, Ga.; and Barbara Buford, Newton, Con..; and five great-grandchildren, Jim DeChamp, Jackie DeChamp, Michael Bernhardy, David Bernhardy and Alix Bernhardy. She was preceded in death by one sister, Frances LaFlamme. Mrs. Buford was a member of DAR and the Monday study club. She belonged to the First United Methodist Church.
