Orty J. Baumgarten, 89, of Stewardson, died 2:50 p.m. Sept. 21, 1998, at his home in Stewardson. He was a retired farmer. Services will at 11 a.m. Sept. 24, 1998, at Grace Lutheran Church in Strasburg. Burial will be in Stewardson Cemetery, Stewardson. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Brummerstedt Funeral Home in Stewardson. Mr. Baumgarten was born Sept. 13, 1909, a son of Edward S. and Frances (Klitzke) Baumgarten. Jan. 23, 1935, he married Lorene Diepholz, who died in 1987. Mr. Baumgarten is survived by two sons, Steve Baumgarten and wife Barbara of Mode and Greg Baumgarten of Stewardson; three daughters, Mrs. Floyd (June) Davis of York, Pa., Mrs. Fred (Janet) Manhart of Bloomington and Jean Baumgarten of Mt. Vernon; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Baumgarten was preceded in death by one brother. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Strasburg. For those who wish memorials may be made to Stewardson Cemetery or to the donor's choice.
