Aubrey Burgin
Aubrey O. Burgin, 91, of Mt. Vernon, died at 10:38 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born on Saturday, Nov. 4, 1916, in Mt. Vernon, son of George F. and Eunice Burgin. He married Madonna Winkler in Woodlawn on Aug. 24,1973, and she survives. Mr. Burgin is also survived by a son, Richard Burgin and wife Carolyn of Mt. Vernon; a step son, Danny Kelly of Smithland, Ky.; two step daughters, Madonna Sue Poninski and husband Michael of Woodlawn and Connie Petersen of Mt. Vernon; three grandsons, John Burgin and wife Kathy of Louisville, Ky., Tom Burgin of Mt. Vernon and Scott Burgin and wife Tracy of Odessa, Fla.; eight great-grandchildren; six step grandchildren; 12 step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, George A. Burgin; and an infant sister. Aubrey served in the U.S. Army Air Force in World War II. He worked at the Mt. Vernon Car Shops and later retired from Precision Engineering in Mt. Vernon. He was a past member of the Opdyke Masonic Lodge and was a Methodist by faith. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Woodlawn Odd Fellows Cemetery with Mr. Randy Sells officiating. The chaplain of Mt. Vernon American Legion Post 141 will conduct a military flag presentation service. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hughey Funeral Home.
