Eva Jean (Reed) Burgin
Eva Burgin Of Mt. Vernon Died At Age 89 Eva Jean Burgin, 89, of Route 4, and late of Nature Trail Home, died 5:35 a.m. Jan. 3, 1989, at the nursing home. Mrs. Burgin was born Dec. 15, 1899, in Jefferson County, a daughter of James R. and Victoria (Kuykendall) Reed. Ella McKeen raised the deceased from the time she was 3 years old. She first married John H. Tuttle, who preceded her in death, Nov. 8, 1946. She later married George Burgin, who also preceded her in death. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home with J. Howard Kraps officiating. Burial will follow at Old Orchard Cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Burgin is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Gilbert (Faye) Sulcer of Waltonville and Mrs. Ella Catherine Artis of Aurora, Colo., 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Mariann Bates of Memphis, Tenn., and Geni Forsyth of Thurmont, Md.; two step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; one brother, James R. Reed of Xenia; and one brother-in-law, Aubrey Burgin of Mt. Vernon. Mrs. Burgin was a Methodist. She was preceded in death by her husbands; parents; one son, Jack E. Tuttle; one brother Walter Reed; and one sister Nettie Green.
