Franklin Sylvester Burnett
Franklin Sylvester BURNETT, age 80, died of a sudden stroke of heart failure at his home at 609 Broadway at about 3:20 yesterday afternoon. Mr. Burnett, who would have been 80 on his next birthday, was born in Wahington D.C. He has been a resident of Mt. Vernon for about 50 years. Mr. Burnett was a veteran of the Civil War, having served in the Seventh Illinois during the great conflict. The services will be held at the First M.E. church, Saturday afternoon at 2:30. Rev. C.C. HALL will preach the sermon. The surviving children of Mr. Burnett are Charles Burnett, Mt. Vernon; Mrs. O.P. MILLER, Big Springs, Texas; Frank, John and Ed Burnett of Mt. Vernon; Mrs. Nellie WHITE of Louisville, Ky. and Mrs Maggie COLE of St. Louis, Mo. He also leaves a wife and a number of grandchildren to mourn his loss.
