Ruby Lucille Thompson Burt - Danville Commercial News OBITUARY: The Danville Commercial News published the following on Wednesday, March 9, 1983: Mrs. Ruby Lucille Burt of 10 Robinson Street died at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday (March 8, 1983) at the Cedar Croft nursing home in Valley Park, MO. She had been a resident there the past few weeks and ill several months. She was educated in Mount Vernon Grade School and graduated from Danville High School. For many years she was employed as a stenographer in the sales department of Esco Corp. in Danville and also had worked as a legal secretary in Danville, retiring in 1972. She was a member of the St. James United Methodist Church in Danville. Born in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, she was a daughter of William John and Pearl Jennie Jackson Thompson. She was married March 7, 1942, in Urbana, Ill., to Benjamin Orville Burt, Sr. who died May 30, 1952. Survivors include a stepson, Ben O. Burt, Jr. of Hammond, Ind.; two nephews, Jim Thompson of Kirkwood, Mo., and Neill Thompson of Chesterfield, Mo., and two nieces, Martha Parker of Norfolk, Va., and Joyce Taylor of Chesterfield. She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Roy and Floyd. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Pape Memorial Home. Dr. Robert White will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Joseph T. Myers. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Submitted By: Family Links |
