Lynn Ellen Burwell, 42, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

She was born in Mt. Vernon on Sunday, Oct. 25, 1964, the daughter of Roger W. and Jeanette (Anderson) Metje.

She married Michael A. Burwell on Oct. 17, 1987, in Mt. Vernon.

She was a legal secretary for Mt. Vernon attorney James L. Hanson.

Funeral services will be held following the visitation Friday evening at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Kent McDermott officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Lynn is survived by her mother, Jeanette A. Metje of Mt. Vernon; her husband, Mike Burwell of Mt. Vernon; her daughter, Michaela Burwell of Mt. Vernon; two brothers, Timothy O. Metje of Mt. Vernon, and Roger Alan Metje and wife Deanna of Mt. Vernon; mother-in-law, Betty Burwell of Mt. Vernon; three brothers-in-law, Butch Burwell and wife Glenna of Mt. Vernon; Ancil Burwell, Jr. and wife Karen of Mt. Vernon, Jerry Burwell and wife Michelle of Mt. Vernon; and sister-in-law, Pam Clifton and husband Scott of Mt. Vernon. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Her father, Roger W. Metje, and father-in-law, Ancil Burwell, Sr., preceded her in death.

Lynn was a loving mother; she enjoyed people, the outdoors and the company of her family and friends.
