Virgil G. Bushong
Virgil G. BUSHONG, 79, of Waltonville died 6 p.m. October 15, 1998 at Franklin County Hospital, Benton. He was a retired coal miner for 20 years and worked for the State of Illinois for 8 years. Mr. BUSHONG was born August 29, 1919, in Waltonville, a son of John R. and Louella (NEWBURY) BUSHONG. November 23, 1941, in Old Monroe, MO, he married Geraldine HOOFER. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Knob Prairie Cemetery in Waltonville with the Rev. Clifford HICKS officiating. Visitors are asked to to directly to the cemetery. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at Fry and Frick Funeral Home in Waltonville. Mr. BUSHONG is survived by his wife, Geraldine BUSHONG; two sons, Jerry Gale BUSHONG and wife Nancy of Sesser and Ray BUSHONG and wife Mary Ann of Waltonville; one daughter, Mrs. Jeanne HALE and husband Terry of Waltonville; five grandsons, Terry Hale and wife Teresa, Ron HALE and wife Stephanie; Brandon HALE, Joe Ray BUSHONG and Charles BUSHONG; three great-grandchildren, Justin ENGLAND, Jordan HALE and Chelsey HALE; three sisters, Mrs. Opal RECTOR of Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Evelyn NORDIN of Mt. Vernon, and Mrs. Ruth HULTZ of Tampa, Fla. Mr. BUSHONG was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
