John Edgar Byars
John Edgar Byars, 38, died at 7:05 o'clock last night at Jefferson County Memorial hospital from crushing injuries suffered at noon Saturday when a tractor turned over on him near his home ten miles northwest of Keenes in Hickory Hill township. Mr. Byars was the father of four children, all at home. He was rushed to the hospital here after the accident. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Garrison's Temple church, with the Rev. Paul Vise officiating, and burial will be in Garrison Temple cemetery. The body will remain at the family home, where friends may call after 7:00 p.m. today. Mr. Byars was born December 2, 1909 in Farrington township, Jefferson county, the son of Ben and Mary (French) Byars. On November 8, 1931 he was married in Mt. Vernon to Mary C. Ritchie, who survives. Besides his wife, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Ben Byars of Mt. Vernon; two sons, Glen Dale, 15, and Billie Ben, 11 both at home; two daughers, Mary Joan, 14, and Carolyn Joyce nine, both at home; three sisters, Mrs. Glenn Wilson of Keenes, Mrs. Gale Pierce of Bluford and Mrs. Tom Molenhour of Mt. Vernon; and two brothers, Charles and Wilroy Byars, both of Mt. Vernon. His father preceded him in death in 1940.
