Gail Carnahan Died Last Night; Sick Three Years After an illness of three years Robert Gail Carnahan, well known Mt. Vernon man died Wednesday evening August 15th, at 6 o'clock at his home at 1620 South Twelfth street. Tumor on the brain, with which he was first afflicted three years ago was the cause of death. For the past six months he had been paralyzed in the left side. Mr. Carnahan was born November 18, 1891. On July 23 1912 he was married to Miss Iva Hutchison. His widow and a daughter Alice, age 15 survive. For many years, Mr. Carnahan held a responsible position at the Mr. Vernon Car Manufacturing company, being assistant to the chief electrician. He had been employed with the Car company in one capacity or another since childhood. Throughout his illness every attention of medical science was given to him. He was for a time a patient at Mayo Brothers hospital in Rochester, Minn. Last October he was operated at the Jewish hospital in St. Louis. He was the son of J. R. Carnahan of this city. Two brothers, D. G. Carnahan of Mt. Vernon, and T. H. Carnahan of Zion City survives. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. John A. Bell at the First Methodist church Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be had at Oakwood.
