John H. Carpenter
John H. Carpenter, 60, of Dix, died at 12:05 a.m. today. Mr. Carpenter was a farmer. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Pentecostal Church of Boyd, with the Rev. Ora Stone officiating. Burial will be in Boyd Cemetery. The body will remain at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, where friends may call at any time after 6:00 p.m. today. Mr. Carpenter was the son of Victor and Bertha (Collier) Carpenter. He was married January 22, 1914 to Lena Piercy, who survives. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, James of Dix, four daughters, Mrs. Ethel Meadows of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Viola Tinsley, Mrs. Nora Simmons and Mrs. Evelyn Wray, all of Dix; three brothers, Oscar of Dix, Earl of Centralia and Andy of Iowa; four sisters,Mrs. Ollie Ragan of Benton, Mrs. Emma Connaway of Centralia, Mrs. Ruth Copple of Central City, and Mrs. Minnie Balmer of Steelville, Ill,; and 13 grandchildren.
